ShopOS is software that runs on your shop's own computer. This page says what it does with information, in plain words.

Your shop's data stays with you

Bills, items, stock, customers, suppliers, khata and reports are stored in a database file on your computer. ShopOS does not send any of it to us or to anyone else. We cannot see your sales, your customers or your prices.

Backups

ShopOS takes a backup every day and keeps it on the same computer. If you choose a folder (for example a USB stick or a Google Drive folder) or a command to run after each backup, the backup goes there. Where it goes is your choice, and anything you send to another service is covered by that service's own terms.

More than one counter

If you add a second counter, the two computers exchange your shop's data directly over your own network. It does not pass through us.

What ShopOS sends over the internet

Only a check for new versions: the program asks GitHub (where our releases are published) whether a newer version exists, and downloads it if one does. That request carries your computer's internet address and the version you run, as any download from a website does. It carries nothing about your shop.

Licences

A Business licence is a code tied to a random identifier for your shop. It contains no customer or sales information.

When you contact us

If you call, message or email us, we keep your name, phone number or email and what you asked, so that we can help you and send you invoices. We do not sell this or share it with anyone, except where the law requires it.

The Cloud plan

The Cloud plan is not available yet. When it is, it will keep a copy of your shop's books on our servers so you can see them from your phone. This page will say exactly what is kept, where, and for how long before anybody can buy it.

This website

This site has no tracking, no advertising and no cookies. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, which keeps standard server logs under GitHub's own privacy policy.
